Bill Murray is Head of SRI European SmallCaps. After graduating from Edinburgh University (B.Sc. Economics and LL.B. Law Degrees), he joined Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980. After having worked for McNeill Pearson Ltd (Corporate Finance for small companies) and Edinburgh Fund Managers (Investment Manager), he joined Walter Scott & Partners in 1983 and he was elected a Director in 1987. At Walter Scott & Partners, Bill Murray had exposure in all major investment areas. He was employed by Kempen Capital Management (UK) from July 1999 to October 2006.
When not attending to the children’s social and sporting calendar, weekends are spent in the garden, cultivating some old grapevines and rescuing the lawns from the effects of children’s golf and football practice. A long term challenge is to produce some drinkable red wine.
Gardening has long since replaced motorsport as a pastime, although Bill considers the former more hazardous. Nevertheless, all things automotive are still a source of long term interest.
Family skiing holidays are always eagerly anticipated, although he has long since given up attempting to match the children’s ability.
